Greenville Public School District

The Greenville Public School District will be able to repair and improve its twelve school facilities in western Mississippi as part of the Qualified School Construction Bond program and with loans from Partners for the Common Good and Southern Bancorp.

Comprised of over 5,700 students in seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, one vocational center, and one alternative center, the Greenville School System is the second largest urban school district in Mississippi. It serves an area significantly more impoverished than the average state levels: 46% of residents have an income below the poverty level, as compared with 30% below the poverty level for the state as a whole, and 94% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Partners for the Common Good partnered with Southern Bancorp, one of the largest rural development banks in the country, to provide a $4,025,000 loan to the school district for capital improvements that aim to boost student achievement across all age levels.
